Car Buying Service
Domino's I have used and heartily recommend Dennis Monroe at Priority Assist. His fee is low and the quotes he gave me were the best I could get.

My experience is that Monroe's service is a net savings, and is much easier and comforting than negotiating at the dealership.

Dennis Monroe advertises that "Priority Assist is a car buying service offering personal service, great prices, and guidance of the process from beginning to end." I certainly agree. Dennis Monroe, as they say, "is a deal!"

Buyer's Beware!
-->
Car buyers beware! Read about "Payment Packing" on car loans. Also, if you are financing a purchase, you want to verify the monthly amount, and you have a Java 1.1 enabled browser such as Internet Explorer 4.0, you can calculate your monthly payment schedule on the Car Loan Payment Calculation web page.

The auto market is rapidly changing. This site is dedicated to helping the consumer use the internet to revolutionize the car purchasing experience.

Use this site now to get information on models, financing, and prices. In the future you will be able to use this site for everything you will need to purchase a new or used car, except perhaps, taking a test drive.

Not another "How to Buy a Car"!
Yes, but this one is different. I bought a 2001 Toyota Tacoma in August, 2001. It was an enlightening experience for even a knowledgeable car buyer such as myself. In just a few short paragraphs, I can summarize all that you need to know.

In short, getting the best deal takes time and patience. You have to go to many stores and talk to the sales staff. The sales people know the game, and will delay you as much as possible to exhaust your patience.

Contrary to advertising, there are no short cuts, except for the buying service, as described above. But that has a cost too, as it should have, since it is saving you time.

The best advice I can give is to ignore all the other car buying advice that includes the invoice price. For example, the supposedly smart buyer will "not negotiate down from the MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price), but should negotiate up from the invoice price."

Bad idea. A better idea is to simply be a price taker from the dealerships. Ignore the invoice price. It means nothing, and laugh if anyone mentions it.

The truth is that the only price that counts is the price at which someone is willing to sell. That price can be anything: above or below invoice, above or below book. It all depends on capricious perceptions of the market by the seller and buyer.

There is a ton of information out there on invoice, trade-in, and book value prices. Retrieve what you can, but don't believe a decimal point of it.

The only method for getting the best deal is to go to a dealership and ask for the lowest price on the model you want. Then walk away. (Don't forget to say "Have a nice day.")

Once you get at least three prices for a comparably equipped model, call or go back and see if they can "improve" their offers (not just meet the lowest offer). Once you get a "no" from everyone, take the lowest offer. It is that simple.

Take your time. You are investing a large chunk of money when buying a car; invest time in negotiating. You are spending your money, and the repairs or depreciation will be your headache.

Don't accept pressure to buy now, and don't allow yourself to be confused over models, features, and prices. Write down information, and get competitive offers. Don't buy until you are certain that you understand the trade-offs in cost and features.

This web site is dedicated to helping consumers. But all the information available will not help a consumer who is not willing to aggressively negotiate for the best deal. Good luck, and we welcome email on your purchasing questions or experiences.
