Although you could get virtually any bike offered by Performance at the store, the store mainly carries Specialized, Scott, Performance, Giant, and Diamondback for children.

The two most important considerations in buying a bicycle are 1) the match of the bike to the type of riding you are planning on doing, and 2) the fit of the bicycle to your particular height and weight (see notes below).

Specialized bicycles have a variety of bike geometries called "Pro-Fit" to address different riding styles. The "HardRocks" have a Pro-Fit Comfort or Pro-Fit Sport geometry designed for more upright and casual riding. The "RockHoppers" utilize a Pro-Fit Race geometry which gets the rider in a more aerodynamic and racier position. The "StumpJumper" has a Pro-Fit Elite racing geometry that is much flatter and stretched out.

As of the first of January, the store is offering discounts on the 1996 Specialized models. The 1997 models will be coming in eventually, but the schedule is not known.

Bicycle Notes from Performance:

The right fit is as important as the right bike: Use this chart as a place to start from when you size yourself up.

1. Inseam is measured to the floor. A good rule of thumb is 1-2 inches longer than your pants inseam.

2. In most cases, if you fall between two sizes, start from the smaller size.
